Happy 2020! Here are some fun events to kick off the new year.
Space Center Houston Galaxy Lights
This weekend marks the last opportunity this season to check out Space Center Houston Galaxy Lights! This event features a high-tech kinetic light show, photo stations, a tram tour and more, all at Space Center Houston. The event is open through Sunday, 6-10 p.m.
Magical Winter Lights
This weekend is also your last chance to visit Magical Winter Lights, a festival at Gulf Greyhound Park featuring more than six million lights. Also enjoy kid-friendly rides, authentic arts and crafts, a Chinese acrobat show and more. The festival is open through Sunday, 5-11 p.m.
2020 Houston International Boat, Sport & Travel Show
The 65th annual Boat, Sport & Travel Show is coming to NRG Center Jan. 3-12. This two-week event is the largest indoor show in the nation for boats and outdoor sports. Visitors will have access to hundreds of industry experts, special deals, family activities and more.
Cars in the Park: Exotics & Classics
Visit Evelyn’s Park on Saturday morning to check out class cars and trucks. This free event offers an opportunity to see your favorite exotic cars and to discuss their history without an entry fee.
Braeswood Food Truck Park Grand Opening
Help welcome Braeswood’s new Food Truck Park at their grand opening event on Saturday. The park will offer a range of food trucks, open daily, and the opening will also feature a DJ.
Bird Friendly New Year’s at Edith L. Moore
Join the Houston Audubon Society on Saturday morning as they start 2020 off with activities including a walk in the woods and a scavenger hunt, as well as hot beverages, cookies, crafts and more in the cabin. This is a drop in event and is open to all ages.
Texans AFC Wildcard Playoffs
The NFL postseason kicks off on Saturday afternoon with the Houston Texans playing against the Buffalo Bills at home. J.J. Watt is set to make his return in this game. Cheer for the Texans at NRG Stadium, or tune into ESPN for a 3:35 p.m. kickoff.
