Rainbow on Ice
The 9th annual Rainbow on Ice event, a Houston-themed LGBTQ celebration on The Ice at Discovery Green on Friday evening, features music by DJ Joe Ross and a performance by H-Town’s R&B Princess JaeRene. Also, enjoy drag performances such as Blackberri as Lizzo and a fashion show with designs by Yahaira DeHill. The Ice on Discovery Green is open through Feb. 2; check for themed events.
Singing Cadets’ Scholarship Concert
Houston A&M University Mothers' Club is hosting a scholarship concert on Friday at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. The Singing Cadets, internationally acclaimed as the Voice of Aggieland, will perform. Proceeds go to the Houston Aggie Moms scholarship fund.
The Sale
Presented by Houston Tri Delta Philanthropies, Inc., this annual two-day shopping event features over 50 Houston boutiques in one location, offering merchandise at discounted prices. Proceeds will be used to fund pediatric cancer research at MD Anderson's Children's Cancer Hospital. The Sale takes place Saturday and Sunday at Bayou City Events Center
BowiElvis Festival
The 11th Annual BowiElvis Festival is a musical celebration honoring David Bowie and Elvis Presley. Hosted by MC John Mills-McCoin, music fans from every era is welcome. This 21+ event takes place on Saturday at The Continental Club and Shoeshine Charley’s Big Top Lounge with two indoor stages, eight bands, an outdoor party hosted by DJ Chaney, live burlesque with the Dem Damn Dames, face painting, Elvis/Bowie games, a costume contest, prizes, food concessions and a lot of nostalgic moments.
Hops n’ Hot Sauce Festival
The 4th Annual Hops n' Hot Sauce Festival will take place at SpindleTap Brewery on Saturday. The event, which benefits Addi's Faith Foundation, includes the annual Hot Pepper Eating Contest, spicy pizza eating challenge, live music and other entertainment, spicy foods and other samples, craft beer, a kids play area with bounce houses, food trucks and a live cooking demo.
Zoo Lights
If you haven’t experienced the holiday magic at the Houston Zoo this season yet, this is your last weekend to enjoy it. Zoo Lights is open through this Sunday.
Holiday in the Gardens
This is also the last weekend to enjoy the holiday-themed events at Moody Gardens in Galveston, including Ice Land, Festival of Lights, outdoor skating rink and more.
Texans in AFC Divisional Round
The Houston Texans will take on Kansas City in the Divisional round of playoffs on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. The Playoff Watch Party Presented by Reliant takes place at The Rustic with special guests, TORO, Houston Texans Cheerleaders, Deep Steel Thunder, Texans Ambassadors and a special performance by Bun B. Doors open at 12 p.m.
