2020 Fourth of July Festivities
Like many things these past four months, celebrations for 4th of July this year will look very different than other years. With coronavirus case numbers and concerns rising daily in the state, many events have been canceled or adapted to keep the patriotic spirit alive while ensuring everyone’s safety. The annual neighborhood festivities in the City of Bellaire, City of West U and Memorial Villages have been cancelled for this year. Below is a roundup of different festivities you can enjoy to celebrate this Fourth.
Shell Freedom Over Texas
For the first time in its history, the popular annual celebration will be crowd-less, delivered exclusively on a virtual platform. The broadcast will run live on ABC13 from 7 to 10 p.m., with a pre-show special at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature appearances from a variety of talented performers this year, including headliner Pat Green, The Houston Symphony, Bun B and Trae Tha Truth, Mariachi Imperial de America, Lyle Lovett, Josh Turner and La Mafia. Singers Hunter Hayes and Sarah Evans will also be making throwback tribute performances. The firework finale remains a part of the coveted event, and they can be seen either broadcasted on ABC13 or from the downtown Houston skyline, with accompanying music played by COX Media Group radio stations.
Tomball Fireworks Show
A fireworks show set to the tunes of 95.3 KTTF FM will go off at 9:30 to 10 p.m. in Tomball’s “Four Corners” area, in tribute to veterans, active military members and first responders. You can find parking around the site and watch the display for free, all at a safe social distance.
Red, Hot, & Blue Drive-in Fireworks Extravaganza
At 9:30 p.m. drive up to the Lonestar College campus to see the Woodlands fireworks display. Set your radio to KSTAR Country 99.7 FM for music to go with the show.
