The Original Greek Festival
The Original Greek Festival, held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, is underway. The popular festival showcases authentic Greek cuisine, Cathedral tours, live Greek music, dance programs, crafts, gifts, and more. Tickets are $5 for adults and children under 12 are free.
Mitzvah City Limits
This rock-concert fundraiser will raise funds to purchase a Nook Pod, which can be helpful for students who have learning differences, for Attucks Middle School. Bandmates and 7th graders Ryder Ponton, Solomon Levin, Lucas Wilson, and George Fellows will rock out at Evelyn's Park this Friday at 5 p.m. Solomon Levin was a Name That Tune participant. 47th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival
The Texas Renaissance Festival, where you can interact with street performers, purchase food and drink, watch entertainment on the several different stages, and come dressed up in your best Renaissance costume, kicks off this weekend in Todd Mission, TX and runs through the end of November. This weekend’s theme is Oktoberfest. Pre-sale tickets are available online for a reduced price, or you can buy tickets at the door.
A.D. Players presents Dear Jack, Dear Louise
A.D. Players at the George Theatre presents Dear Jack, Dear Louise, a love story about two strangers who meet by letter during World War II and fall in love. Tickets are available at the box office or online for $30-75. Performances are on Friday and Saturday night and Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Empty the Shelters Adoption Event
BARC’s quarterly Empty the Shelters Adoption event wraps up this weekend. Adoption fees will be reduced to encourage adoption. Find more information on the adoption process here.
Bayou City Art Festival Downtown
On Saturday and Sunday at Sam Houston Park along Allen Parkway, Houston’s largest art festival returns, transforming the streets of downtown into artistic avenues and stages to spotlight local talent. The weekend event features 200 artists representing 19 different disciplines and gives visitors a chance to personally meet artists and purchase one-of-a-kind prints, jewelry, sculptures and more. There will also be food trucks, live entertainment, and kid-friendly activities. General admission is $15 and kids’ tickets are $5.
Halloween Pup Crawl & Pet Expo
The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center presents the annual Pup Crawl & Pet Expo on Sunday evening. This year’s event will be Halloween themed, so bring your furry friend in costume for a chance to win fun prizes. Local pet vendors and Saint Arnold’s Brewing Company will be there, too. Tickets are $40 for adults and children are free.
Astros vs. White Sox
The Astros play the White Sox this weekend in their final games of the regular season. On Friday night, they play at Minute Maid Field. The games on Saturday and Sunday are at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. Make sure to follow them in the postseason. And find out where to watch here.
