Memorial Sweethearts Kick Off The Year!
The Memorial High School Sweethearts have had a busy couple of months! The Sweethearts are a spirit organization led by Kimberly Davis (along with Senior Board Members Anastasia Rubio, Annabelle Langford, Ansley LeGrand, Cate Biar, Elle Espey, Grace Otte, Hannah Harp, Helen Hope Bergen, Isabel Heckler, Katherine St. Martin, myself, Lily Rowe, Lucy Huthnance, Mia Pancioli, Sarah Harp, and Whitney Nieto). They support all sports and extracurriculars by making signs, attending events, and leading senior night festivities.
The 2022-2023 Sweethearts season started back in May with the senior car parade. The Sweethearts brought out a DJ, Chick-fil-a, and welcomed the rising freshman while they supported the 2022 graduates.
Later in August, Sweethearts of all grades joined forces for paint week. Throughout the week, 25 hours were spent painting over 120 signs that would be hung up around campus, used for pep rallies, and for the football team to run through coming out of the locker room for the second half of the game!
The Sweethearts have continued to make signs as the year continued. Additionally, the senior Sweethearts had one of their most anticipated events in early September. Each year, the senior Sweethearts match with a varsity football player who they show some extra support to. The Sweethearts had a huge reveal where each girl made a basket of the players favorite things to give to them after practice. Afterwards, they headed back to paint each player a personalized sign to hang outside their houses. These signs were extraordinarily creative, many with elaborate designs and clever catchphrases. Once the signs were delivered, the Sweethearts got to sit back, relax, and enjoy watching the players do what they do best – play football!
