Happy Hallo-weekend! Halloween is on Thursday but there are lots of spooky, family-friendly events taking place this weekend. Buzzworthy weekend happenings include:
Scream On the Green

Live at Live Oak: Celebrating Diwali at Memorial Park

Memorial Park Conservancy, along with presenting sponsor H-E-B, invites the community to celebrate Diwali during Live at Live Oak. Celebrating Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, the event will feature a free, family-friendly, live performance by Hamza Amir and Live Band. A local artist based in Houston, Hamza was the quarter finalist of a singing reality show in Pakistan. From singing ghazals to performing bhangra sets, Hamza and his band showcase an impressive range of genres and styles. Attendees can enjoy complimentary samosas from Kati Roll Wala and delicious desserts from Raja Sweets, offered on a first-come, first-served basis, along with free soft drinks and bottled water. Guests can also grab giveaways while supplies last and enjoy free henna tattoos provided by Henna Love. Registration is not required, but RSVPs are encouraged.

Houston Symphony Presents: Rocky Horror Picture Show

The Houston Symphony presents the cult hit movie musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with special guest Patricia Quinn, who stars in the movie in the role of Magenta. While this film screening doesn’t involve the Symphony orchestra, instead it’s hosted by Magenta herself, Patricia Quinn, and features a live “shadow cast” to enliven the proceedings, as well as a Rocky Horror-themed afterparty for all ticketholders. Special VIP seating includes a Meet-and-Greet event with Patricia Quinn on the night of the screening. There’s also a costume contest, so come dressed as your favorite Rocky Horror character and join in the fun.
Levy Park's Annual Howl-o-Ween Dog Parade and Costume Contest

Join Levy Park for their 7th annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Parade and Costume Contest presented by H-E-B. The event will kick off with a pup parade around the park followed by a costume contest where contestants will strut the “runway” for the chance to win pup-tastic prizes. For those not competing, DJ Del Sur will be spinning spooky tunes and kids will also have an opportunity to walk the runway.
Zoo Boo
Through Thurs., Oct. 31, 9 a.m.-5 pm. with last entry at 4 p.m.; on select dates, hours will be extended to 9:30 p.m. with last entry at 8 p.m.

It’s the last weekend for Zoo Boo. Costumes are encouraged. Highlights include Carved Pumpkins, Pumpkin Tree, animal-themed Peek-a-Boo Pumpkins, the Pumpkin Lantern Tunnel, the spooktacular Scary-Go-Round, and more. New this year: a Ghost Town, Glowing Pumpkins, and Talking Pumpkins.
Children's BOOseum

It’s the last weekend for the Children’s “BOOseum.” The museum offers a ton of spirited Halloween fun, including trick-or-treating every day, slime-making, DJ dance parties, and a whole host of Halloween-themed activities and events. This Saturday, special events include Ghost Adventures and “Oh, So Icky!” including ooey-gooey science experiments.
The Texas Renaissance Festival: All Hallow's Eve Weekend
The festival takes place every Sat. and Sun. through Dec. 1
Texas Renaissance Festival grounds (Todd Mission, TX)
This season marks the 50th anniversary of the Texas Renaissance Festival, the nation's largest Renaissance-themed event. The festival features 21 stages of entertainment, more than 400 artisanal shops, delicious food, and family fun. This weekend is themed All Hallow's Eve, adding a Halloween twist to the festival fun. There will be spooky attractions and performances plus trick-or-treating. One fun highlight is the popular Kettle Corn Eating Contest, which takes place at 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the New Market Village’s gazebo. There will also be a family-friendly bonfire at 7 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday nights, including arts and crafts and complimentary s’mores.
Color Factory's Trick or Treat Night
Sun., Oct. 27, 4-6 p.m.; Haunted Hues runs through Nov. 3.

Color Factory will be hosting a Trick or Treat Night on Sunday. Come in costume and enjoy a treat-filled experience. There will be six trick-or-treat stations along with the full seasonal "Haunted Hues" experience, which includes Halloween-themed photo ops, seasonal treats, and a spider takeover of the signature ball pit.
