Baskin Robbins' rainbow sherbet
If there’s anything teenagers love the most, it’s food; more specifically, dessert. The classic association of summer with icy popsicles now accompanies numerous other dessert options in the minds of many Memorial-goers. With snow cones and frozen yogurt being the new craze, high schoolers can often be found at several of the popular spots around town, such as Red Mango, Orange Leaf, MAM’s, Oasis, etc.
With such an abundance of flavors and toppings, it enables people to easily customize their own perfect treat. It’s no wonder these vendors have gained so much popularity. However, let’s not forget the classic local spots that we all know and love, like Baskin Robbins.
Senior Lauren Riechmann who frequently visits Baskin Robbins with fellow rising senior Anna Needham claims, “I go there just for the rainbow sherbet! Best rainbow sherbet in town!”
Snow cones from Oasis Snow Balls in various flavors.
For those wanting something a little different, popular snow cone places include MAM’s House of Ice and Oasis Snow Balls. The flavors range from sweet to fruity and include Tiger's Blood, Pina Colada, Cake Batter, and countless more. A popular flavor appears to be Wedding Cake since rising junior Jacob Whitty and senior Cameron Shepherd both rave about it. "Extra condensed milk is a must," Jacob adds.
If you are looking to step outside the box or beat the crowd, some lesser known but still delicious places include Cloud 10, Fat Cat Creamery, and Voss Creamery. Senior Daniel Lee recommends getting the coffee ice cream at Cloud 10, while Olivia Russell praises the salted caramel flavor at Fat Cat Creamery.
If driving out past the Memorial area is not your cup of tea, visit Voss Creamery, where junior Rachel Berg often enjoys the classic chocolate ice cream. All in all, there are numerous vendors available to cater to everyone's sweet tooth and I highly recommend hitting up all of these places by the end of summer. With so many high schoolers roaming around, you are bound to run into fellow classmates!
