The Christmas-light house
Thank you, all! We’re happy to be in Wimberley, but we will always be grateful for the days we spent in Bellaire, and the smiles we gave to everyone who saw our work over the years at Christmas time.
John and Shari Greer
Editor’s note: Karen Vine Fuller shared the story behind John and Shari Greer’s Christmas tradition in, Holly St., Lit with Memories, published on our Buzzworthy blog, Dec. 21, 2017. You may have seen the Greers’ home on Holly Street, right across from Bellaire High School. It has been lit up with memorable, themed Christmas decorations and lights for the past 28 years. The Greers moved to the Hill Country after their home flooded during Harvey. Thank you to the Greer family for all that you did for our community for so many years, and thank you to Karen Vine Fuller for sharing your tribute with The Buzz. The Greer family also was featured in Deck the Yard and Boughs of Holly by Cindy Gabriel [The Bellaire Buzz, December 2003].
Thanks for the memories
Great article [Holly St., Lit with Memories, by Karen Vine Fuller, Buzzworthy blog] and great memories. So glad to hear the update on the family and some of the history behind the creations. They will be missed, but they have certainly earned this new chapter in their lives. Thanks, Karen, for the update!

And another fan
We would walk over to Holly to view this wonderfully decorated home. Always drove evening visitors by to share the joy. Folks like the Greers helped make the Christmas season bright. Thanks, Greer family, for the many splendid years of Christmas memories.

From one Buzz writer to another
What a treat it was to read Tracy Barnett’s Travel Buzz article about Susan Tallman’s walk on the Camino de Santiago [Solo trek leads to letting go, January 2018]! Such a beautifully written article about a one-of-a-kind stellar teacher! Susan taught third grade to two of our children, and she is a wonderful teacher. It was so nice to get to read about her incredible solo walk in Spain. Thanks to Tracy Barnett for telling Susan’s story – what a terrific way to start 2018 with this lovely article.
Jennifer Oakley
And now it’s Jennifer’s turn
Jennifer Oakley got it just right in her January “Iron Men” article [Iron Men: Tackling extreme races together, January 2018]. It’s a “buddy story,” not so much about sport as about the motivating powers of great friends all moving in the same direction. We got a collective chuckle out of that uncharacteristically intense bike picture on the {West University Buzz} cover, but each of us teared up a little the first time (or first few times) we read the story. Many thanks to Jennifer for such a well-written account of our collective 15-year bout with temporary insanity.

Special story
Thank you on behalf of over 9,900 Special Olympics Texas athletes and their families in the greater Houston area for your cover photo and article on Katherine Richards [Meet a Neighbor: Katherine Richards by Angie Frederickson, January 2018]. We appreciate The Buzz showcasing the abilities of our athletes, and Katherine is a dynamic example through her fearless Over The Edge experience, her athletic accomplishments and her community service.
