The Houston Botanic Garden’s Bayou Blues Festival, presented by BKV Energy, includes an afternoon of soulful, roots music, curated by Houston’s own Annika Chambers. In addition to five hours of live music, attendees can snap photos in front of the Garden’s bluebonnet field, also sponsored by BKV Energy; enjoy the Family Fun Zone, with bluebonnet-themed crafts, games, face painting, and more; shop a festive market featuring local vendors and plants from the Garden; and browse information stations staffed by select nonprofit organizations. Access to the entire Garden, including the “Habitat” exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, is part of the Bayou Blues experience.

Space Center Houston's Moon 2 Mars Festival with presenting sponsor, Wellby Financial celebrates its fourth year this spring break. The event will take place at the Space and Science Museum from Sunday, March 9, to Saturday, March 22 with Third Eye Blind headlining on Saturday, March 15, and a second headliner on March 22. Last year, tens of thousands of people attended Moon 2 Mars, which celebrates NASA's Artemis program that will return astronauts to the Moon, using innovative technologies to build a permanent presence on the lunar surface.
The 2025 Moon 2 Mars Festival is set to deliver an out-of-this-world experience with electrifying live music, mouthwatering foods, and days of cosmic exploration for all ages with cutting-edge space technology. The 2025 ExxonMobil Theater District Open House is back for the first time since 2019! Embrace your inner thespian at this free, family-friendly event. Explore Downtown Houston’s world-class theaters and arts organizations while enjoying a day of fun and learning for all ages, with interactive activities that celebrate creativity, community and the power of the arts.
The doors of all the iconic spaces of the Theater District will be open to the public and activated with performances, arts and crafts, an instrument petting zoo, hands-on costume dress ups, musical caricatures, onstage and backstage tours, an opportunity to find your spotlight onstage at Jones Hall, community engagement showcases, and more. Food and beverage options will also be available. Performance, activity and workshop highlights include: an interactive performance with the artists of Theatre Under the Stars, performances from the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet dancers, a family workshop with a cast member of Broadway’s “Hamilton,” a stage combat demonstration from Alley Theatre actors, and a workshop with multitalented performing artist YUNGCHRIS.

This spring, visitors can enjoy seven weeks of roller-skating fun in Discovery Green at downtown Houston’s only outdoor roller rink. Let the good times roll at this Instagram-worthy rink that’s fun for all ages. Practice your moves, or learn some new ones with roller-skating lessons from Daisies and Pancakes Lab. Audubon’s Birds of America opens March 8 at HMNS (members see it first March 7), and will showcase a rare opportunity to see John James Audubon's Birds of America, published as a series between 1827 and 1838. This famous book features life-sized, colorful illustrations of birds and is considered a landmark work in ornithology. This is also your last chance to see the HMNS Shark exhibit, which closes on March 16.

Puck drops at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15 for Hockey Day in Houston, a free, family-friendly day of hockey festivities at our Beer Garden & Restaurant. Throughout the day, they'll have live NHL games on our Super Screen, local hockey vendors, professional hockey alumni, free youth street hockey clinics (from 12 to 5 p.m.), and a silent auction of hockey and other sports memorabilia. They'll even have a Zamboni on site for you to sit on and take photos with. As a collaboration between the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority, the Houston Chapter of Hockey Players in Business, Saint Arnold, and a whole slew of local organizations, Hockey Day in Houston is the city's largest ice hockey watch party and celebration of the sport.
