Joni HoffmanPeople ask: “Where do you come up with ideas for articles?” Everywhere. While Michael and I were out for breakfast, I caught him staring intently at a woman. I didn’t mind. Her impressive, handmade Frida Kahlo jacket had caught Michael’s eye and, right away, I shared his feeling – she is a story! And she was, in February: Stitching Frida Kahlo: The creativity of Robin Russell by Cathy Gordon. Our readers bring us ideas too. I was taking a call from a reader and, before wrapping up, I asked – as I always do – for her to let us know if she ever had any story ideas. “Actually…,” she said. Her granddaughter had gotten a pig as a Christmas present. Bingo. Read this month’s Pig Tales: A family falls for Annie by Cathy Gordon. Also in this issue, you’ll find a story about 15-year-old Sevy Eicher, who has Down syndrome and is a talented artist, and her incredible family; writer Angie Frederickson had heard of the Eichers and brought this idea to us. We want your ideas too. Call or email, or stop by. Or if you’re out being Buzzworthy, don’t be surprised if I tap you on the shoulder. [email protected]
