Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! It’s almost Thanksgiving Week and there’s lots of fun and festive happenings around town, including:
Zoo Lights 2022
TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo starting tonight through Jan. 8. Stroll through the beautiful Zoo grounds illuminated with earth-friendly LED bulbs, take photos in front of the 33-foot color-changing holiday tree, and sip hot chocolate by one of the smores-making stations. Santa returns to his workshop to take photos until Dec. 23.
Lightscape
Houston Botanic Garden’s Lightscape opens tonight and runs on select evenings through Jan. 1. An internationally acclaimed holiday lights and music event, the outdoor illuminated trail includes stunning immersive installations set to seasonal tunes along a winding path through the Garden. In addition, enjoy festive food and drinks, including fire pits for roasting s’mores. Timed entry slots and parking are limited each evening. Tickets are $28 for adults and $18 for children; flex passes (offering an extended entry window) are also available.
Sugar Land Holiday Lights
The 9th annual Sugar Land Holiday Lights presented by Houston Methodist kicks off tonight and runs through Jan. 1. The holiday experience at Constellation Field includes more than three million lights, 10 themed areas, holiday shopping, food, movie nights, Santa Claus, a carnival, and more. Tickets vary by event date; kids 3 and under don’t require a ticket.
Magical Winter Lights
Magical Winter Lights, taking place at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, is a spectacular holiday-light event including giant lantern attractions, carnival rides and games, and more family-friendly entertainment. The event opens this Friday and continues through Jan. 7. Tickets are $25 for adults 13+; $17 for children (ages 4-12) and seniors; and free for children age 2 and under.
Houston Rockets
The Rockets take on the Pacers on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Warriors on Sunday at 6 p.m.
Film at Miller Outdoor Theatre
This is the last weekend at Miller for the 2022 season. Watch American Underdog - The Kurt Warner Story, on Friday at 7 p.m., sponsored by Champion Energy.
Kemah Wine Fest
Sample wines from the Pacific Northwest at Kemah Boardwalk on Saturday, 2-5 p.m. More than 72 wines from 24 wineries will be available for tastings. The ticketed wristband includes wine samples, a free wine glass, and appetizers from six local restaurants. Live entertainment on the main stage includes Rapture, 1-5 p.m., and The Outsiders, 6-10 p.m. Tickets are $54.95/person day of the event.
Family Day at Rienzi & Bayou Bend
Visit Rienzi and Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens for an afternoon of free, family-friendly programs. Park at Bayou Bend and take the complimentary shuttle between locations. Programs include: “The Arts of Mexico” at Rienzi and “celebrate the Season” at Bayou Bend.
Houston Texans
Houston Texans take on the Commanders on Sunday at 12 p.m.
World Cup
