Zachary Teoh

Kindergartner Zachary Teoh – the youngest spelling-bee champ in River Oaks Elementary School’s history – recently competed in the regional spelling bee, held by Houston Community College. He competed against 54 other district champions from 22 Texas counties.

BUSY BEE Zachary Teoh – the youngest spelling-bee champ in River Oaks Elementary School’s history – placed second in HISD’s spelling bee. Here, he’s pictured on the day of HISD’s bee. The sign he holds was made by his class and has bees, made with their thumbprints, from all his classmates and teachers.

Zachary Teoh has long demonstrated a strong interest in reading and language, among other passions such as computer coding and chess. He enjoys word games and especially loves when he quizzes his parents and they don’t know the answer, said his mom, Joanne.
