Monster mah jong mash
Witches, royalty, flappers from the roaring ’20s and other creatively costumed guests gathered for a Monster Mah Jong event at a “fun raiser” for Anne Frank Hadassah hosted by Mady Kades (in witch hat) and Sharon Maloney (wearing the crown of thorns and feathers). The ghoulishly gourmet lunch included cockroach nuts (dates with pecans), flesh and bones (salmon on crackers), green “slime” salad, devil’s fingers (pigs in blankets) and, for dessert, mummy pie. The frightfully delightful afternoon raised $1,000. Joyce Diamond, dressed as a '20s flapper, and Sharon Brier, dressed as Space Woman, won Best Costumes (a fun birthday treat for Sharon, as it was her special day). Guests included Jeannette Nestvold, Joan Lebow, Paulette Levine, Marsha Loring, Michele Hosko, Lori Lazard, Claire Brooks, Vicky Dyer-Smith, Mirl Cohen, Frances Rubin, Sue Feinberg, Helena Zach, Tammy Simi and Lili Rubin.
