Happy Thanksgiving week! We wish you a sweet holiday with family and friends. Below, we’ve rounded up a list of events and holiday activity ideas to enjoy with the family this week and weekend:
Children’s Museum of Houston’s 12th annual Thanksgiving Bash
The Children's Museum is hosting the 12th annual Thanksgiving with Santa event along with Elves on a Shelf carolers on Wednesday, beginning at 12 p.m. Bring your camera and your wish list for Santa. There’ll be carolers, activities such as painting pumpkin patch prints, making a pumpkin vine, making a turkey leg hat and more.
TXU Energy BakerRipley Turkey Trot
If you love to run, join the annual Turkey Trot in the Galleria area. More than 15,000 people will be at the starting line on Thanksgiving morning starting at 7:30 a.m. The Turkey Trot benefits BakerRipley
Turkey Day Workout at Evelyn’s Park
Have that slice of Thanksgiving pie! But first, join The Buzz Magazines for a fun, free, pre-Thanksgiving wellness workout with Pledge To Fitness on Thursday, 8:30 a.m., at Evelyn’s Park. Bring your family and friends and work up an appetite before the feast.
68th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade
The 68th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday. The parade will include floats, balloons, marching bands and live entertainment and will wind through 20 blocks of downtown Houston beginning at Smith and Lamar.
Family Movie Night at Levy Park
Ring in the holiday season with a free screening of A Christmas Story during the first Family Movie Night at Levy Park sponsored by Texas Children's Hospital. Bring a blanket and come early to grab a spot by the performance pavilion before the movie begins at 6:30 p.m.
Flea at Silver Street: Black Friday Weekend
Shop for unique vintage goods, home decor, artwork and more at the Black Friday Weekend edition of the Flea at Silver Street. This three-day holiday flea market will feature an eclectic mix of décor, jewelry, art, plus local foods, a pet adoption event, live music, and a bar.
The Ice at Discovery Green is open for some cool winter cheer. It’ll be open on Thanksgiving Day, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and, regularly, Mondays-Thursdays, 5-10 p.m., Fridays, 5-11 p.m. Saturdays, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Look forward to fun themed days, such as Funfetti Friday (listen to a live DJ while you skate) and Skate with Santa on Saturdays, 5-6 p.m., Nov. 25-Dec. 23.
