It’s that time of year again: Every December, we take time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the next. Here, we list top 25 most-viewed stories of 2024, since we’re heading into 2025. The below list is determined by the numbers from Google Analytics.

We’re proud to share that our number-one most-viewed story of the year was written by Lucy Walker, a senior at St. John’s School who interned with The Buzz last summer. She featured Bellaire native Parker Smith, who played for the Rice Owls and for the Bellaire High School baseball team. Parker was drafted by the Houston Astros. It’s our annual tradition to spotlight Buzz-area graduating seniors and where they’re headed to college, an always-popular feature.

A group of eighth grade boys and moms celebrated the end of their years at St. Mark’s Episcopal School with a trip to Florida. Fifteen mother-son duos hit the beach for a last hurrah before they scatter to various high schools in the fall. Their trip was included in our Buzz About Town column.

Meet cardiothoracic surgeon and engineer Billy Cohn, widely recognized for his contributions to the development of the continuous-flow, implantable artificial heart. Billy is also known in Bellaire for his mesmerizing Halloween zoetrope.

6. Works of Rodeo Art: Talented students honored for their art pieces by Karen Vine Fuller
Over the past five decades, hundreds of thousands of Houston-area students, have entered the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s School Art Contest. Winning entries earn the privilege of being displayed during the Rodeo.
7. “Runway moms” by Angie Frederickson
Wilchester Elementary School held its annual year-end luncheon for outgoing fifth-grade moms at the Houston Racquet Club. At the end of each school year, moms whose youngest child is finishing fifth grade are honored as they say goodbye to Wilchester. Ladies enjoyed lunch and a fashion show featuring their very own Wilchester moms. This item was included in our Buzz About Town column.

AN ARTIST’S QUEST Adam Elkhadem, who died tragically in May 2023 in a car accident, graduated from Columbia University in New York City in May 2018. While at Columbia, he created a Facebook community committed to the sport of glove-spotting.

SPORTING WINGS Last March, while in Mexico City, Susan spotted this pair of wings on a stand in a public space beckoning her to make the obligatory PR Fairy pose. Her husband David Morris said it’s one of a series of winged photos he and Susan had fun collecting on their travels over the years.
13. Fairy Dust: May it never settle by Cindy Gabriel
Susan Farb Morris, affectionately known as Houston’s PR Fairy, tragically died on June 14, 2024 at age 68. During her too-short life, she spread a lot of “fairy dust” and love around Houston and around the world.
